I’ve been joyfully teaching bokashi composting for several years now. First as a volunteer with the local county's Composter/Recycler program and now through my own classes and workshops.

Below is a collection of upcoming and past events, from community presentations to hands-on demonstrations and local collaborations.

April 18, 2026, Saturday

10 AM - 3 PM.

Nature's Haven 2nd Anniversary Open House

Nature's Haven

6403 NE 277th Ave

Camas, WA 98607

Come celebrate Nature’s Haven’s 2nd anniversary! I’ll be there along with other local vendors and artists.

I’ll be offering informal, hands-on bokashi composting demos so you can see how to turn your food scraps into nutrient-rich soil without yard waste, messy piles, or pests, even in small or wildlife-heavy spaces.

You’ll get a chance to:

  • See how a bokashi bin works

  • Learn what goes in (yes, even cooked food, meat, and dairy)

  • Practice loading a bin

  • Explore a simple “soil factory” setup using a container or planter

It’s a clean, discreet system that works in real-life spaces even where traditional composting doesn’t.

I’ll also be sharing more about my Bokashi Bootcamp™️, a small-group program where you’ll get your own bin, step-by-step guidance, and support as you get started at home.

April 25, 2026, Saturday

12 PM - 4 PM.

Bokashi Composting Demonstration

Nature's Haven

6403 NE 277th Ave

Camas, WA 98607

Come join me for a free informal bokashi composting demonstration, sponsored by Nature's Haven native plant nursery!

Discover how to turn your food scraps into nutrient-rich soil - even in the smallest of yards! In this hands-on demo, I will introduce you to bokashi composting: a simple, mess-free method that lets you compost nearly all food waste, including cooked food, meat, dairy, grains, and pantry items like pastas, rice, beans, etc.

You’ll get a chance to participate in the demo and learn how to load a bokashi bin, what a finished bokashi bin looks like, and how to build a bokashi soil factory using a simple potted planter. A discreet setup that even the pickiest neighbor or association won’t notice!

I’m also inviting a small group of participants to join my next Scraps to Soil pilot program, which includes your own bokashi bin and guided instruction. This is a group coaching experience where we’ll compost together in real time - everyone moves through the same steps each week, learning and supporting one another along the way. This special Holiday Edition is timed perfectly to process your Thanksgiving scraps! There are only 5 tester spots available, so if you’re interested, email me at jen@bokashijen.com to secure your spot. 🌿
